FAQs
What services does STWC offer?
STWC primarily offers individual counseling to teens 16+ years old and adults. Few spots are reserved for family/couples therapy.
What insurance plans does STWC accept?
Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois PPO, Cigna/Evernorth, United Healthcare/Optum/Student Resources, UMR, and Lyra (EAP).
Note: If I am not paneled with your insurance company and you want to use insurance, I would be considered an out of network provider. This means you must pay the full fee, I then would provide you with a receipt of payment (also known as a superbill) that you then can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Reimbursement rates for out of network billing vary per insurance company and can best be found by contacting the phone number on the back of your insurance card. I am happy to assist in any way that I can to help make this process as easy as possible.
How long are therapy sessions and how frequent should I expect to meet with my therapist?
Therapy sessions typically last for 55-60minutes. The therapeutic relationship takes time to build and the first 3-5 sessions are centered around history gathering, establishing rapport, and goal setting. By the third session, we will have a better idea if it feels like a good fit to keep working together or decide if a referral to another provider with a specialized focus or different approach would better fit your therapeutic needs.
Frequency of sessions depend on client need, however, meeting weekly for the first 3-5 sessions is most effective for setting goals and developing a plan to achieve desired goals. When significant progress is made and primary goals have been met, reducing to monthly sessions may be sufficient to maintain stabilization and fine tune acquired coping skills.
How much are sessions if I do not use my insurance or choose to pay out of pocket?
Initial Appointment: $175
Individual Counseling: $150
Family/Couples Counseling: $195
How can I make a payment for any out of pocket fees?
Payments can be made securely in the client portal. HSA/FSA may be used for therapy costs. Please ask me if there is another form of payment you would like to use.
Does STWC offer sliding scale/reduced fee sessions?
Yes, though there are only a limited number of sliding scale fees reserved for clients that are uninsured.
